Message from the Executive Director Protection for Legal & Human Rights Foundation Dear Friends, Partners, and Supporters, It is both an honour and a responsibility to address you today on behalf of the Protection for Legal & Human Rights Foundation. Since our inception in 2017, we have remained steadfast in our mission to defend human rights, empower marginalized communities, and promote legal awareness across local and global landscapes. Our journey began with a vision—to build a more just, transparent, and inclusive society where everyone, regardless of their background or circumstance, can live with dignity, equality, and hope. Guided by this vision, we became formally registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, establishing ourselves as a committed Non-Governmental and Civil Society Organization. Today, I am proud to say that our reach spans beyond borders. Through the dedication of our diverse team of professionals and volunteers—working tirelessly in multiple countries—we have created meaningful change on the ground. From advocating for fundamental rights to delivering legal education in underserved communities, from conducting social research to combating corruption, our efforts are deeply rooted in the belief that true development is only possible when justice prevails. We are not only defenders of rights, but also builders of resilience. Through grassroots initiatives, legal empowerment, anti-corruption campaigns, and rule of law advocacy, we address systemic injustices and amplify the voices of those too often silenced. Our projects are informed by real needs, shaped by evidence-based research, and driven by the passion to make the world a fairer place. As we look ahead, our commitment remains unwavering. The Protection for Legal & Human Rights Foundation (PLHRF) strongly condemns the Previous & ongoing judicial harassment and targeted persecution of its respected officials, including Executive Director Mr. Uzzal Hossain & Chair Mr. Advocate Mohi Uddin, by the former government and its affiliated entities. These acts of repression are clear attempts to silence our officials and undermine our commitment to justice, transparency, and human rights. We denounce the arrest of our rights defenders based on false and fabricated charges. We protest the systematic abuse—including physical torture, repeated detentions, and extended remands—carried out by law enforcement and intelligence officers. These actions, accompanied by the filing of baseless cases in various police stations and the embezzlement of organizational funds, represent a gross violation of both national and international human rights standards. Over the years, PLHRF has remained steadfast in its mission to expose corruption, hold powerful actors accountable, and advocate for victims of injustice. Our investigations have shed light on cases of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and widespread human rights abuses committed under the previous regime. We have courageously revealed corruption involving government institutions and private entities—including high-ranking officials and members of parliament—despite significant risks. We express our disappointment with the current government for not taking action against the people working in various government institutions, including the Intelligence Department, DB, DMP, and others, despite the various misdeeds committed by the previous government. The organization believes that these human rights violators and corrupt officials are detrimental to the country, human rights activists, and the people. The Foundation stands firm in its values, refusing to bow to pressure, threats, or manipulation. We call upon the international community, human rights organizations, and civil society to stand in solidarity with our cause, demand accountability, and protect the defenders of truth and justice. We will not be silenced. We will continue our fight for a just, transparent, and democratic society, where the rule of law prevails over political oppression.
